I need some serious advice...?

i have been married for nine months and me and my husband are at serious crossroad. He says that i have to let him discipline my four year old son because i am incapable of being consistant with him. he says that my kid is out of control, acts like a wild animal and he does not listen to anyone. My husband says the reason why he does not take me out because he is embarrased to be with me and my child in public and if i dont allow him to discipline my child then we cant stay together. I have asked other friends and family about my childs behaior and they say he is well disciplined to be his age, but my husband says that is not right and people who say that all have children that run rampant. I have allowed my husband to discipline my child in the beginning of our marriage. But he was leaving bruise marks on his skin. My husband says that was a mistake and he is sorry and i should give him another chance to be a "father". Mind you he does not spend anytim with my kid, never takes him anywhere, hell he won't even play with him outside. So I am to give up on my marriage because I wont allow him to chestise my kid or do I give in and hope that everything else will get better. Because my husband says that he can't treat me better if i am restriciting him and threatening his peace in his own home. What do you think?
